Inner city suburban meets contemporary New York apartment. The clients came to us wanting well designed, intimate spaces that incorporated a mixture of materials and textures rather than having large, blank spaces. Recycled brick features throughout the home and the kitchen provides a textural contrast between non-traditional materials which include recycled timber on a pier and a polished concrete benchtop. The void areas create a feel of volume and allow the mixed materials to be viewed from various places in the home. James Hardie cladding was used to accentuate the external vertical proportions of the home, providing a lightweight solution and allowing certain elements to "float", creating a modular looking home.
